Whats the story with Balamory?

Advantages: Great Programme, loads of hidden messages

Disadvantages: none

#Boolaamooreee booollaa morreee ... Whats the story in Balamory wouldnt you like to know.....#
god that song gives me goosebumps every time it comes on, maybe its because my tv's volume is so loud or just because its a kind of exciting program.
As soon as theme tune starts my 1 year old niece would stop in her tracks and just stare at the tv till the theme tune finishes then look at me and give me a great big grin :)

Every character in Balamory lives in a different coloured house, so the colours can be associated with the characters.
There is always a problem in Balamory - a minor one revolving usually around Miss Hoolee (the narrator and nursery teacher) and her nursery kids. She begins the show by asking 'whats the story in balamory today?
' whichever character is trying to solve the problem like archie the scientist (who lives in the pink house) Josie Jo (now called josie jump lives in the yellow house) etc would start singing #can you guess which coloured house are we going to...# If its PC Plum (the blue house) children will shout in the background the blue house! and the character will say its the blue house!

This is a good way to teach children of colours, and each colour is relevant to the characters personality, yellow for josie jump who is active fun and sporty, pink for archie - that i dont understand...blue for PC plum - as police uniforms are blue, orange for the artist, and red for the shop. The shop includes an old lady and a lady in a wheel chair. The cast of Balamory is great as its multicultural and has people with disabilities to show children not to discriminate.

In each episode the children at the nursery (different for each episode) do something fun, like visit places and learn things, eg. they went to a mosque and then drew the architecture.

At the end of their little adventure Miss Hoolee asks what was the story in balamory today and then bubbles fill the screen as she moves her hand and then narrates the story and images of their activites display.

This show is great, as it has conistancy - what my 1 year old niece likes, a good song, bright colors and valuable lessons. Like the way the charecters depend on each other shows how valuable friends are, and shows you not to be scared of policemen as PC Plum is a bit of a Plum himself.

The entrance and ending of Balamory with the theme song mentioned in the beginning shows a steam boat going past an island (Balamory - the area)

Summary: Balamory teaches kids valuable lessons and has fun in the process.
